B-17G "Liberty Bell" Down Near Aurora, IL - Crew Escapes Resulting Fire

The B-17G "Liberty Belle" landed safely today near Aurora, IL after the crew reported having an engine fire.   The Chicago Tribune on line reports that the crew of 7 escaped without injury.  For more details, visit

It is noted that this aircraft visited Spirit of St. Louis Airport on August 21, 2010 and flew passengers around the St. Louis area.  AE applauds the crew for bringing the aircraft in without loss of life.
