St. Louis Science Center Hosts Star Trek Events In April

Don't miss the April First Friday and Second Thursday events,  part of the Star Trek: The Exhibition, at the St. Louis Science Center: 

Friday, April 6, and Saturday, April 7, meet special guest, Star Trek writer, David Gerrold, screenwriter of the classic episode, The Trouble with TribblesFriday night, David Gerrold will talk about his experiences as part of the Star Trek world and will sign autographs. On Saturday, he'll be back at the Science Center for autograph sessions at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. 

On Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 7:00 PM, Rachael Brady, Director, Visualization Technology Group, Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University, will present The Immersive Virtual Reality Environment: Today’s Holodeck?  The holodeck is everyone’s favorite futuristic technology. Like magic, it creates artificial worlds that seem real even though they are in an empty room. Rachael Brady, the founder of the DiVE (Duke immersive Virtual Environment) will talk about virtual reality past and present. She will reveal exciting new advances in 3D virtual reality and immersive environments and discuss how close we have come to realizing the Holodeck. Ms. Brady is the founder and director of the DiVE, a six-sided CAVE-like VR environment.
