Greetings from The Aero Experience Team

The Aero Experience is a celebration of Midwest aviation and aerospace achievement. We invite you to join us as we explore the treasures of Midwest aviation through first-hand experiences. Our contributors take turns flying lead, and we are always looking for new destinations. Check in with The Aero Experience frequently to see where we will land today, and then go out and have your own aero experiences!

AirVenture: EAA Announces Eagle Flights Mentoring Program to Begin This Week

By Carmelo Turdo
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has announced the commencement of the Eagle Flight Mentoring Program at AirVenture this week to encourage adults to pursue aviation opportunities.  The program, first reported on The Aero Experience back in January of 2011 and again in March of this year, will reach implementation on Thursday with the first Eagle Flight at AirVenture.  According to the EAA, "EAA will launch its new Eagle Flights program, which will provide pathways to flight for adults similar to the organization’s Young Eagles program, during an inaugural flight on Tuesday, July 24, at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. EAA President/CEO Rod Hightower will fly the first Eagle Flight at EAA AirVenture 2012. His passenger will be Dr. Diane Thornton, a longtime Texas educator and school administrator who is now National Director of the 'Learning for Life' program that oversees the Aviation Exploring program."  Please check with EAA following AirVenture for more information on how to implement Eagle Flights in your chapter.
