Looking Forward to the Cape Girardeau, MO Air Festival by Looking Back: 2010

By Leo Cachat
The 2010 Cape Girardeau Regional Air Festival featured the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, Skip Stewart, Kyle and Amanda Franklin, Melissa Pemberton, U.S. Army Golden Knights, and Team RV.  A variety of warbirds were present, including the B-17 Sentimental Journey, B-25 Mitchell, and F-4U Corsair. They also had a rare EA-6B Prowler on static display.  I was only able to get down to this show on practice day, Friday, and decided to shoot from the levee across from the airport in hopes of getting some different angles of the show. The hot and hazy conditions were horrible for photography, but my plan worked pretty well for the Blue Angels.  This show was one of the biggest shows Cape Girardeau had put on in years.  The heat was a major factor in reducing attendance, but those who did go witnessed a great show:

Looking Forward to the Cape Girardeau, MO Air Festival by Looking Back: 2008

By Leo Cachat
The 2008 show was a one day event held on July 4th. The show was put together at the last second, and was free to the public.  It also included a night show. Participants included: Julie Clark in her T-34 Mentor, Mike Rinker in his SU-26, Angel 7, Paul Stender and his Dodge Ramjet truck, Lima Lima Flight Team and the U.S. Army Golden Knights. This show, although small, was very entertaining, combining top-tier acts with a medium-sized airport venue.  Here are some views of the 2008 event:
