Greetings from The Aero Experience Team

Greetings!

The Aero Experience is a celebration of Midwest aviation and aerospace achievement. We invite you to join us as we explore the treasures of Midwest aviation through first-hand experiences. Our contributors take turns flying lead, and we are always looking for new destinations. Check in with The Aero Experience frequently to see where we will land today, and then go out and have your own aero experiences!

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015: Exhibits - Gee There's a Lot to See!

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo
http://www.airassociatesmo.com/tae/The Aero Experience continues our trip through the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015 exhibitor alphabet with our arrival at G (Gee!).  Included in this post are avionics giant Garmin and Light Sport Aircraft maker Glasair.

Garmin Aviation Products

Garmin is not only a leading provider of avionics equipment in the aerospace field, it has also diversified its product line to include automotive, marine and consumer electronics as well.  Garmin featured its aerospace products in several different aircraft from an RV-7A to a Cessna 210 to a King Air.  Check their website for the extensive line of products for your new build or upgrade avionics needs.

Glasair

Glasair, the Arlington, WA based Light Sport Aircraft kit manufacturer, also had an impressive exhibit featuring an impressive GS-2 Sportsman on floats.  The Glasair pre-molded composite kits were revolutionary when they appeared in the 1980s, and since then over 2500 have been sold in several models.  The latest offerings include a diesel-powered Sportsman and the new Merlin design.

Cape Girardeau Announces Evening with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds

By Leo Cachat

The Cape Girardeau Regional Airshow has announced a one day show to take place on Wednesday evening, May 11, 2016 featuring the Canadian Forces Snowbirds returning after performing a fantastic demonstration at the 2014 show. This should be a real treat - watching the Snowbirds fly in the evening light with the beautiful hills of the Cape Girardeau countryside in the background. The sunsets seen during evening shows in previous years have always been an added attraction. The Aero Experience was privileged to see the Snowbirds fly in the evening light as I was on hand for their arrival just before sunset back in 2014. Here is a taste of what to expect when you attend this one show event.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015: Exhibitors - F Is Full of Fun

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo
http://www.airassociatesmo.com/tae/EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015 was full of exhibitors with names beginning with the letter F.  Included are several government agencies together in what we call the "Federal Hangar," some aircraft manufacturers, forums and workshops and a major sponsor, Ford Motor Company.

Federal Hangar

There were several federal government agencies included in one large hangar space, and so they are grouped together here.  The Department of Homeland Security brought assets from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency, including a Cessna 550 Citation, Airbus EC-120B and a 42-foor Invincible Interceptor boat.  The Federal Aviation Administration provided an altitude simulation chamber, and a couple is seen here experiencing the effects of a reduced oxygen environment.   Other agencies, including the National Park Service, were also represented.

Flight Design, Florida Institute of Technology and Flying Legend Italia

Several other exhibitors, including Flight Design, Florida Institute of Technology and Flying Legend Italia were open to visitors.  Flight Design, the German-based producer of Light Sport Aircraft (LSA), has been a leading producer of hang gliders and LSAs for over 25 years.  Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL has been producing aerospace and scientific professionals since the dawn of the space age.  Flying Legend Italia has been marketing warbird replica kits of the Tucano and Hawker Hurricane aircraft through dealers around the world.

Forums and Workshops

Forums and Workshops are offered throughout the week to assist aircraft builders in completing their projects and educate attendees on a particular aircraft or regulatory issue.  Here we capture the Homebuilders forum hangar.

Ford Motor Company

It was hard to miss the Ford exhibit tent off Boeing Plaza, and it was fun to visit the exhibit several times throughout the week.  The Ford GT and Apollo Space Program edition Mustang were the most popular displays, though the other custom livery cars and outdoor family fun areas were also popular.  Autograph sessions were also hosted by Ford, including those with the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team and Jessica Cox featured here.
