St. Charles Municpal Airport Set to Close June 30, 2010

The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported today that St. Charles Municpial Airport will likely close as of June 30. Its main tenant, St. Charles Flying Service, was reportedly months behind in rent, and will have to relocate if it plans to remain in business. Nearby airports, such as Creve Coeur Airport, SMARTT (St. Charles County Airport), and Spirit of St. Louis Airport may have space for the close to 90 aircraft currently based at St. Charles Municipal Airport. Illinois airports, such as St. Louis Downtown Airport (Cahokia, IL) and St. Louis Regional Airport (East Alton, IL) are additional relocation choices. No plans for the development of the site have been announced by the owners, Robert Baudendistel and his family. More information on this will be published as soon as it is received.
