Fedex Express Donates Boeing 727 for Training at St. Louis Downtown Airport

FedEx Express donated one of their retired cargo aircraft today during a ceremony at St. Louis Downtown Airport.  The Boeing 727-200F, Fedex Flight 9041, arrived at 10:33 this morning  from Indianapolis to a warm reception on an otherwise unseasonably cold day.  The aircraft will be primarily used for emergency response training by the airport's fire department and local district crews, but it will also be configured to train airframe and powerplant technicians and inspire interest in aerospace careers through education programs conducted by the neighboring Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum. Additional aircraft and training equipment will eventually join the 727 at a site near the west ramp.  Here are some views of the aircraft as it arrived today:
