Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum Holds Summer Fly-In and Open House

By Carmelo Turdo
The Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum held its Summer Fly-In and Open House Saturday at historic Curtiss-Wright Hangar 2, St. Louis Downtown Airport.  The Museum offered some new exhibits for this year's event, such as the newly refurbished McDonnell Aircraft factory cart, F-4 Phantom II cockpit simulator, and GAT II instrument trainer.  A variety of aircraft were on display, including the Cessna 152, 162 Skycatcher and 172 Skyhawk; Aviat A-1B Husky, Luscombe 8F, MO CAF Aeronca L-3E, a Bowers Fly Baby two-ship fly-by, an ultralight, powered parachute, and other general aviation aircraft that flew in throughout the day.  Also, a Waco UPF-7 from St. Louis Biplane Rides gave flights over the downtown St. Louis area.

The Museum staff wishes to thank the following for their assistance in making this event an enjoyable one:
Fly-in and drive-in guests, Ideal Aviation, St. Louis Downtown Airport management, EAA Chapter 64, Gateway Area Ultralight Association, St. Louis Flight Training, Air Associates of Missouri, Commemorative Air Force Missouri Wing, St. Louis Biplane Rides, St. Louis Flight Simulator, Missouri Pilots Association Gateway Chapter, and The Aero Experience.
