U.S. Navy Blue Angels Hornet Crew Pays Visit to St. Louis

By Carmelo Turdo
Two members of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels Aerial Demonstration Team arrived at Spirit of St. Louis Airport this afternoon in their Number 7 F/A-18D Hornet.  Lt. Ryan Chamberlain, No. 7 Narrator, and Lt. Commander Michael Cheng, Events Coordinator, are visiting the St. Louis area for non-public events today and tomorrow before departing tomorrow afternoon.  Lt. Chamberlain, from Bloomington, Illinois, received his wings of gold in 2008 and has flown F/A-18 Super Hornets with VFA-14 "Tophatters" on numerous deployments before joining the Blue Angels in 2012.  Lt. Commander Cheng, a native of San Francisco, California, earned his wings of gold in 2002 and flew the S-3B Viking and EA-6B Prowler before also joining the Blue Angels in 2012.  The St. Louis community looks forward to seeing the entire Blue Angels team at the upcoming Spirit of St. Louis Airshow scheduled for May 3-4, 2014.  Here are some views of the aircraft as it landed today:
