EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014 Airshows: Bob Carlton in the Sub Sonex

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014 featured the top-tier airshow performers, and often the airshows feature some very unusual acts.  In recent years, the entertainment-oriented airshow was combined with the product demonstration flights, adding to the variety of aircraft presented to the general attendees.  This perfect storm of having available time in the airshow schedule, airshow pilot Bob Carlton and the fascinating Sub Sonex personal jet all in the same place provided the opportunity to view this hot rod in action.  

 

The Sub Sonex is a kit-built personal jet that has been in development over the last several years and is now available in quick build kit form.  Test pilot (and Super Salto jet sailplane pilot) Bob Carlton has been involved with the testing and demonstration of the aircraft, and left many in the audience remarking, "Hey, that's cool!"  The aircraft was also on display at the Sonex exhibit during the week, and we caught some of the demo flying in this photo essay:
