Creve Coeur Airport Hosts American Waco Club Fly-In, Stearman Flight and Local Aviation Activity

By Carmelo Turdo
The American Waco Club Fly-In continues Saturday at Creve Coeur Airport in St. Louis County, and The Aero Experience visited the airport this morning to see some great antique and warbird aircraft.  A number of Waco aircraft were parked in the grass near the taxiway, including the only flying 1934 S3HD from New Hampshire.  Other cabin and tandem seat Wacos made for a colorful look back to 1930s aviation.  There are more Wacos and other antique aircraft in the Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum based at the airport.

Also flying today were members of the Stearman Flight flying three Boeing Stearman World War II-era basic trainers in formation around the local area.  Following the Stearman Flight, Michael Scimone flew a nice pass in the Harvard, the advanced training aircraft for previous generations of Canadian pilots.  Some general aviation flying continued throughout our visit.
