Breitling DC-3 Stops in St. Louis During World Tour on Way to Oshkosh

The Breitling DC-3 World Tour continues through the Midwest, arriving at St. Louis Downtown Airport this morning. Pilots Francisco Agullo and Yannick Bovier taxied the iconic Douglas DC-3 to the Jet Aviation St. Louis apron around 10:45am, and the crew's luggage was quickly unloaded and stored for the day.  St. Louis Downtown Airport is a fitting place for such an historic aircraft tour to visit, tracing its origins back to 1929 with the rise of the Curtiss-Wright Corporation and the advances in aviation technology leading to the development of aircraft like the Douglas DC-3.  The Breitling DC-3 is scheduled for a local flight this afternoon, departing tomorrow for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017.

The Breitling DC-3 was delivered to American Airlines in 1940, served with the USAAF in World War II from 1942-1944, and flew with regional carriers through the 1980s.  It was brought to Switzerland in 2008.  This DC-3 is currently certified to carry passengers and is IFR equipped.
