EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017: Airshows - Jet Warbirds
|
By Fred Harl |
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017 airshows featured many warbirds, including former military jets that brought some noise and a little smoke to the cheering record crowds. Here we feature some classic jet warbirds representing the evolution of combat jet development from the late 1940s to the 1980s. The jet warbirds included here are the U.S. and Canadian produced F-86 Sabre and T-33 Shooting Star, Czech-designed Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros, the French and German Dassault-Dornier Alpha Jet, Douglas (later McDonnell Douglas) TA-4J Skyhawk and a Polish WSK-PZL Mielec development of the Russian MiG-17. These aircraft were so valuable to the defense of their respective countries and alliances during the Cold War era that they were co-produced over several decades and some remain in service today.
