EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017: First View Highlights

The Aero Experience begins our coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017 with an overview of the nation's largest annual aviation event.  By the usual measures, according to the EAA, this year's turnout was a great success: 590,000 visitors, 10,000+ aircraft, 2991 show aircraft, 11,600+ camping sites, 2,527 registered international visitors and 906 media representatives from around the world.  Highlights of this year's schedule include the appearance of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels; gathering of strategic bombers, including the two flying B-29s; gathering of B-25 Mitchell bombers in salute to the remaining Doolittle Raider, Dick Cole; Heritage Flight that included an F-35, A-10 and P-51 Mustang in salute to warbird pilot Vlado Lenoch; a forum featuring Apollo Astronauts and Flight Director Gene Kranz; and the appearance of the Ford F150 Raptor truck.
