EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017: Warbirds - Liaison Aircraft
|
By Fred Harl |
The Aero Experience coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017 continues with a look at the warbirds seen throughout the week. Here we feature liaison types, those aircraft called upon to perform special missions like intra-theater priority delivery, observation/forward air control, personnel transport and recurrent training among their countless other uses. These aircraft were usually adaptations of civilian types already in use, and thus have civilian and military designations. Although not every example herein served in a military capacity, they represent the liaison types well. Included here are: Stinson L-5G Sentinel, Ryan Navion L-17/U-18, Cessna 305/O-1/L-19 Bird Dog, PZL-104 Wilga and Cessna 310/U-3.
