Coles County Airport Airshow 2018: Tucano and Microjet

By Carmelo Turdo
The Aero Experience continues our coverage of the 2018 Coles County Airport Airshow with a look at two performers who flew alternating passes during the show: Lee Leet in his Short Tucano and L.D. Jeffries in his FLS Microjet, Lil Devil. We enjoyed visiting with Lee Leet, L.D. Jeffries and Kelly Jeffries, and much of our coverage here is from behind the scenes on the hot ramp. The Shorts Tucano is a license-built model of the Embraer Tucano trainer, used by the RAF and several other nations over the last twenty years. The FLS Microjet, a modern incarnation of the BD-5J, has seen a resurgence in recent years on the airshow circuit and for missile simulation for the U.S. Department of Defense. We thank Lee Leet, L.D. Jeffries, Kelly Jeffries and Coles County Memorial Airport for their hospitality.
