The Aero Experience Southwest Tour: The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History Heritage Park

By Fred Harl
The Aero Experience occasionally ventures outside of the Midwest to bring new stories to our audience, and here we feature coverage of a recent visit to the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque, NM. The museum was established in 1969 as an accredited affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution specializing in telling the story of the atomic age from early weapons development to the present uses of atomic energy. Originally based at Kirtland AFB, it moved to its current location in 2009 to better accommodate civilian visitors. In this story, we take a tour of the many outdoor exhibits that include aircraft, missiles and a 100 ft. replica of the Manhattan Project Trinity Tower.
