EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019: Blue Angels, Thunderbirds and Snowbirds Make Appearances

The Aero Experience continues our coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, sponsored by Elite Aviation, with a look at unscheduled appearances by three military air demonstration teams. Although not officially part of the aerial entertainment for the week, these brief encounters with the highly visible military jets were welcomed. Below we feature a pictorial from our viewpoint around the grounds as the jet teams made their arrivals.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels Air Demonstration Squadron appeared in the skies over EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 Monday morning, making several passes before departing the area. The team was transitioning from their weekend airshow in Duluth, MN to Grand Junction, CO.

On Thursday afternoon, Canadian Forces Snowbirds Flight Safety Officer Captain Blake McNaughton and another Royal Canadian Air Force crew member arrived in a team Tutor jet. The aircraft was parked in the Vintage Area, where they set up camp.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Air Demonstration Squadron appearance occurred on Thursday shortly after the arrival of the Snowbirds jet at the beginning of the scheduled daily airshow. The team was on its transition flight from Cheyenne, WY to the Milwaukee, WI airshow that weekend.

Canadian Forces Snowbirds Flight Safety Officer Captain Blake McNaughton and his crew member departed on Sunday Afternoon. Here he is seen being towed from the Vintage Area prior to takeoff.
