EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019: Seaplane Base

The Aero Experience resumes our signature year-round coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, sponsored by Elite Aviation, with a unique diversion from the main aerial festivities at Wittman Regional Airport. As much of the Midwest is experiencing the onset of summer, we look back on our visit to the serene waterfront at the Seaplane Base. Located on Willow Harbor on nearby Lake Winnebago, the Seaplane Base attracts aircraft large and small that can land on floats or on their hulled fuselage (including the giant Martin Mars in 2016). Regular bus service runs from the main campus to the Seaplane Base, and various groups hold social events there throughout the week. Here we have some views of the path through the woods from the parking lot, the shoreline camp area and the light aircraft operating off the lake.
