EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019: Warbirds - AT-6/SNJ Texan and Harvard

The Aero Experience continues our coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, sponsored by Elite Aviation, with this look at the iconic North American AT-6/SNJ Texan and it's cousin, the Canadian Car and Foundry Harvard. First flown in 1935, the prototype was further developed into the advanced trainer designated AT-6 for the U.S. Army Air Corps and SNJ for the U.S. Navy. The type was used by the Allied Forces in World War II and into the 1950s as a front-line training aircraft, and for decades more by other air forces around the world. It was used for the forward air control mission in Korea as the Mosquito, and in the counter-insurgency role in conflicts into the 1970s. Today, many can be seen at airshows and fly-ins and are flown by airshow performers such as the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team and the Geico Skytypers.
