Aircraft and crews from the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Missouri Wing, based at St. Charles County (Smartt Field) Airport, participated in the United We Fly - Fourth of July program on Independence Day last Saturday. Throughout the day, CAF warbirds flew over selected cities to honor the nation's founding and provide a morale boost to those who may not be able to get out and celebrate the holiday. The graphics below show the intended and actual routes of the Missouri CAF flight over the St. Louis Area:

The Aero Experience was on site at the airport to capture the launch and recovery of the Missouri CAF Wing's TBM Avenger and the T-28 Trojan photo chase plane. In the sequence below, we feature the launch of the TBM, crewed by J.P. Mellor, Mark Schuler and Mark Narby, and the T-28 crewed by John Fester and Gary Chambers, just before noon on Saturday. Both aircraft joined in formation and flew their route over the St. Louis area for about an hour and a half before returning to land.
