The 15th Annual Midwest LSA Expo was held at Mount Vernon Outland Airport in central Illinois Thursday through Saturday. This popular Midwest Aviation event showcases the major Light Sport Aircraft brands from around the country, many representing manufacturers based in Europe where LSAs, or Ultralight Aircraft as they are called there, are manufactured. Most of the designs featured here are high-wing, low-wing or gyrocopter designs that comply with the specifications within the FAA's LSA category.
The Aero Experience will provide extensive coverage of the Midwest LSA Expo in the coming days, and we begin here with a sampler of the display aircraft. Included in this first survey is the Bristell 912 shown below, representing Bristell Midwest and St. Louis-based Piston Aviation.
