Fair St. Louis Air Show 2014 - Gone But Not Forgotten - Part Two: Aerobatic Performers

The 2013 Fair St. Louis Airshow featured three tremendously talented Midwest pilots and genuinely nice guys in the airshow industry. Two are veteran nationally and internationally known pilots, and one is a St. Louis area native and regional player in the airshow scene who is well on his way to reaching the same notoriety.  I am speaking about Matt Younkin, Skip Stewart and Patrick McAlee.

  

The Younkin name is synonymous with aviation as Matt's grandfather and father are both legends for their contributions to aviation. Matt himself has quickly shown that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as he, too, has become one of the most entertaining pilots in the business.  Matt Younkin flies the beautiful Beech 18 "Magic by Moonlight". I had the honor of flying with Matt at this year Cape Girardeau Regional Air Festival, and it is something that I will never forget. Matt again wowed the crowds at the 2013 Fair St. Louis Airshow, and we look forward to having him back in St. Louis in future years.

 

Skip Stewart flies one of the most high energy, exciting, fast shows you will ever witness. I like to say, most pilots fly solo, but Skip on the other hand flies soooo looww it makes your heart skip a beat.  Skip flies his aircraft, Prometheus, in ways that will blow your mind. Skip put on a tremendous show here in 2013, and we can't wait to see him again as well. 

Patrick McAlee is the hometown boy who flew his first Fair St. Louis Airshow in 2013. Patrick's ExtremeFlight aerobatic routine in his blue and yellow Pitts demonstrated   that the aerobatic scene has a bright future with pilots like him.  We at The Aero Experience are privileged to call Patrick a friend, and he recently appeared at the Midwest Airport Fun Days event at the St. Louis Downtown Airport to the delight of all those in attendance. We look forward to seeing and featuring Patrick in the future, and are extremely proud of this Midwest aviator.
