http://www.airassociatesmo.com/tae/Another legendary military jet was featured in Boeing Centennial Plaza (and in the Warbirds Area)  - the Fairchild Republic A-10C Thunderbolt II.  Also often dubbed the Warthog, the A-10 has served gallantly during the Cold War and armed conflicts from the Gulf War to the present war zones.  The jet serves as a flying tank, using its 30mm cannon and variety of weapons to destroy armored vehicles and other ground targets.  It was built with redundant systems and an armored cockpit to increase survivability when damaged by ground fire.  In service since 1977 as the A-10A and 2007 as the A-10C, the Thunderbolt II service life has been extended to at least 2022 and there has yet to be designed a satisfactory replacement.  The aircraft featured here were from the 122nd FW, Indiana Air National Guard based in Fort Wayne.
