EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2018: Boeing Plaza - Teen Fighters Eagle, Fighting Falcon, Super Hornet and Growler
|
By Fred Harl |
Boeing Plaza was home to military tactical jets throughout the week, and here we feature the familiar "teen fighters" that have served the U.S. and Allied air forces gallantly throughout the Cold War, the Gulf War, Afghanistan, Iraq and in other combat zones in the War on Terror. These designs have served for decades, and will continue to be the mainstay of tactical military aviation for many years to come. Included here are: F-15C Eagle from the 159th FW, LA ANG; F-16C Fighting Falcons from the 309th FS at Luke AFB, AZ and 115th FW, Wisconsin ANG (Madison); a colorful F/A-18F Super Hornet from VX-23 at NAS Patuxent River, MD; and an EA-18G Growler from VX-9 at NAWS China Lake, CA. We will feature more of these aircraft following the Boeing Plaza series.
