2021 Midwest LSA Expo Features A Variety of Light Sport Aircraft Offerings

By Carmelo Turdo
The Thirteenth Annual Midwest LSA Expo was held September 9-11 at Mount Vernon Outland Airport in central Illinois. The event provided a very important marketplace for Light Sport Aircraft makers to exhibit and demonstrate their products to potential buyers as well as those newly interested in this class of aircraft. Informative seminars covered the essentials of Light Sport flying, avionics and engine options and kit building opportunities featuring Zenith Aircraft. A special presentation was given Saturday afternoon by local Flights for Christ humanitarian mission pilot Rod Mullinax.

The Aero Experience
was on site Saturday to report on this great Midwest Aviation event and show the various Light Sport Aircraft models. We thank Airport Manager Chris Collins, his staff and event volunteers for their hospitality and assistance in producing our 2021 coverage.

The apron was neatly organized with the Light Sport Aircraft manufacturers displaying factory and owner-built models. Here we present an overview of the exhibitors, and then we will include a look at individual aircraft companies.

At 11:00 A.M., the crowd paused to observe a Patriot's Day salute to those lost in the 9-11 attacks on New York, the Pentagon and United Flight 93 that crashed in Shanksville, PA. A large U.S. flag was flown from a Kash Helicopter Services UH-1H "Huey" as the National Anthem was sung.

The Aero Experience thanks everyone who contributed to making the Thirteenth Annual Midwest LSA Expo a great success! As mentioned on the cover of the Official Program, this year's Midwest LSA Expo was dedicated to the memory of our friend, Bill Rohland, who was a great advocate for ultralight and light sport aviation.
