Summertime Midwest Airport Survey

By Carmelo Turdo
The Aero Experience visits several airports each month outside of those served by our sponsors, and these great locations are included in our story coverage throughout the year. We encourage communities to support and develop their local airports as social centers and economic resources that improve everyone's lives. Here we highlight two Midwest regional airports:

Sullivan, MO Regional Airport

Sullivan Regional Airport offers a 4,500 ft. runway, fuel, hangars and the newly-established Big River Aviation - Sullivan aircraft maintenance service. Big River Aviation offers a full range of services - annual inspections, repairs, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance  - for mid-state Missouri customers in Sullivan along with their St. Louis Downtown Airport location. Their maintenance hangar is shown below along with the lobby and memorial flag pole and bench.

Mount Vernon Outland Airport, IL

Mount Vernon Outland Airport offers facilities for aircraft ranging from general aviation to executive and charter airline services. The airport is a very community-friendly place, often hosting events that enhance the local economy and the aviation industry. Here we feature some unique aspects of this airport: Scalewings SW21 jet mockup, Earl E. Outland memorial flag pole, Jefferson County Heroes memorial, SRT Aviation FBO hangar, SAE Flight Simulation Lab, Flights for Christ humanitarian aviation, Jefferson County Hall of Honor/Museum and in-house Bonnie Cafe.
