The Cameron Airshow performers arrived today at Midwest National Air Center in nearby Excelsior Springs, Missouri for an afternoon of sponsor flights.  Adam Baker flew his VIP flight during the late afternoon in his Extra 330LX.  The Aeroshell Aerobatic Team flew four VIP flights in their four AT-6 Texans, and Greg Colyer flew one flight in his T-33 "Ace Maker."  The Aero Experience was there to record the flight experience of these seasoned pilots with their special guests:

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014: Homebuilts, Light Sport Aircraft and Ultralights

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo AirVenture Oshkosh 2014 featured the aircraft originally at the heart of the organization - homebuilts, and their modern brethren light sport planes and ultralights.  There are a variety of models available, from the classic wood and fabric Pietenpol to the modern aluminum and carbon fiber designs.  Light sport aircraft are made in the U.S. and around the world, with a number of manufacturers in eastern Europe that have found success in the U.S. market.  Modern kit-built aircraft are quite sophisticated - they are produced with modern manufacturing methods and feature the latest in cockpit instruments and displays.  Ultralights have also reached a high level of refinement with increased safety.  The Aero Experience would like to share some views of the homebuilt, light sport and ultralight aircraft we saw last July:
