EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019: Young Eagles Flown During Tuesday Airshow

The Aero Experience continues our coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, sponsored by Elite Aviation, with a Thanksgiving Week look at the Young Eagles flight that took place during the Tuesday Airshow. Each year there is a recognition of the Young Eagles program, executed by volunteer pilots from the local EAA chapters nationwide, with a ceremonial Young Eagles flight during the afternoon airshow. According to the EAA, 2,188,708 Young Eagles, ages 8-17 have been flown by over 40,000 pilots as of last week. The Aero Experience has posted stories featuring Young Eagle flights given by EAA Chapters 64 and 32 in the St. Louis area along with chapters in Mount Vernon, IL and other locations around the Midwest. We thank those who volunteer their time, money and aircraft to introduce youth to aviation through a first-hand flight experience.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019: Aviation In Missionary Service

The Aero Experience celebrates Thanksgiving week with a look at Aviation In Service to others in need around the world. Here we feature the exhibit of aviation service organizations at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, namely Mission Aviation Fellowship, along with the preferred turbine-powered aircraft, the Daher (Quest) Kodiak.

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organization that serves isolated communities in underdeveloped areas of the world. Along with spreading the Christian Gospel, MAF provides for the basic human needs of the communities they serve in Africa, Asia and Latin America. One of their purpose-built service aircraft, the Quest Kodiak, was on display. The turboprop-powered Kodiak is known for its ability to fly a 3500lb. payload into remote areas. The aircraft design combines robust power, high-lift wing and modern avionics into one efficient airframe. Options include floats for water operations and underbelly cargo pod. The Quest Aircraft Company was recently acquired by Daher, assuring the future strength of the company while keeping the Quest brand intact.

Here we include the MAF, Quest Aircraft and Daher exhibits and the accompanying Kodiak aircraft on display. Also featured are several Kodiak aircraft flying during the second weekend of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019.

November General Aviation (and More!) Survey Part Two

Carmelo Turdo
The Aero Experience looks back on last week's visit to St. Louis Downtown Airport in this edition of General Aviation (and More!). Here we present a collection of the general aviation aircraft we encountered undergoing maintenance at Big River Aviation, parked on the apron or transiting the airport. Included here is the first flight of the pretty green and white Piper Geronimo since arriving over a year ago for preparation for service with Manos de Compasion in Guatemala. We hope that you will enjoy this photo essay, and you may see yourself here somewhere if you look closely!
