EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015: Airshow Performers - Aeroshell Aerobatic Team

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo
http://www.airassociatesmo.com/tae/The airshows at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015 again included one of The Aero Experience's favorite performers, The Aeroshell Aerobatic Team.  The team members are not only accomplished pilots and a finely-tuned team, but they are also very friendly and accommodating to fans and media.  It was great to visit with them again following our extended coverage of the Cameron, MO Airshow where it was our privilege to have some quality "ramp time" with the team.  Thanks for another great week of great day and evening performances!

Fly-In Flashback: 2015 St. Louis Regional Fly In Attracts A Variety of Aircraft

By Leo Cachet
The 2015 edition of the St. Louis Regional Airport Fly-In provided a huge turnout of aircraft, cars and people and provided a great day of free entertainment. The ramp was full of aircraft, including general aviation aircraft from light sport to Bonanzas and some warbirds, including two Nanchang CJ-6's and the Commemorative Air Force Missouri Wing's TBM Avenger. There were some antique aircraft on the ramp as well, including Mark Harter's WACO and the one that really caught my eye, a Meyers OTW-145.

This is an event I have attended several years in a row, and at this year's event I wanted to do something a little different than just document everything that was there. The sky conditions were favorable for some artsy photography, so I decided to just take my wide-angle lens and create something visually more dynamic than just typical ramp shots with the available aircraft.  Hopefully I portrayed not just how exciting aviation is, but also how beautiful these flying machines can be if you look a little deeper than just wings, fuselage, tail and engine.

Thank you to the entire staff and organizers at the St. Louis Regional Airport for this great event every year.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015: Airshow Performers - The 4ce (The Force)

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo
http://www.airassociatesmo.com/tae/The Aero Experience returns to our year-round coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015 after taking a short hiatus to feature other Midwest Aviation events in what has turned out to be a very busy fall season.  We are proud to be sponsored again this year by Air Associates, the FBO and Cessna Pilot Center flight schools located in St. Louis, MO and Olathe, KS.  Their generous support makes our comprehensive coverage of this great aero experience possible.

The first featured aerobatic performer from EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015 is The 4CE (The Force), a three or four-member formation team depending on the venue.  The team members are all top-tier performers who fly as one in the air:  Matt Chapman, Jack Knutson, Rob Holland and Bill Stein.  Each pilot performs solo and with The 4CE throughout the season, and Rob Holland recently became the World Freestyle Champion while part of the U.S. Unlimited Aerobatic Team.  The gracefulness of the multicolor formation speaks for itself, and our photo essay will give an idea of the precision and beauty of the team's performance.  This year's airshow featured Matt Chapman, Bill Stein and Rob Holland.

The following sequence is a compilation of multiple airshow performances throughout the week.  Check out Bill Stein's aircraft in the first two photos as it seems to change colors as the light strikes the unique paint scheme!
