Spirit of St. Louis Airshow: Blue Angels Practice Show Lifts Spirits in St. Louis

By The Aero Experience Team
The U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron performed a practice airshow today in preparation for the Spirit of St. Louis Airshow this weekend.  Due to the overcast skies, they performed a flat show that provided sweeping horizontal maneuvers and booming passes over Spirit of St. Louis Airport.  The Aero Experience team was on the ramp today to check out the aircraft and capture the practice airshow today for a preview of the Blue Angels portion of the airshow.  Two-seat Number 7 F/A-18D flew in the slot position, and Number 6 single-seat F/A-18C was down for maintenance, and later test flown safely.  Fortunately, the cloud deck has lifted and a high show is likely to be enjoyed over the weekend.  Much more coverage will follow, to include more of the Blue Angels, other performers and static displays.  Special thanks to the Spirit of St. Louis Airshow and TAC Air Staff for their hospitality and helpfulness during our visit today.
