May General Aviation (and More!) Survey

By Carmelo Turdo
The Aero Experience team returns to the monthly General Aviation (and More!) series with a look at our collection of aircraft sightings from May. We end the month with a survey of the general aviation, business and charter aircraft we encountered at five different airports. We hope that you will enjoy this photo essay, and you may see yourself here somewhere if you look closely!

Spirit of St. Louis Airport is home to general aviation and a significant percentage of the St. Louis area's corporate fleets. Here we feature a rainy day and sunset at Elite Aviation.

St. Louis Downtown Airport is home to a large general aviation community along with business aviation aircraft. Featured below is the St. Louis Flight Training fleet and the Missouri Commemorative Air Force Wing aircraft, a Grumman (GM-made) TBM Avenger and North American B-25J Mitchell named Show Me, repostitioned from the now flooded St. Charles County Airport.

Salem-Leckrone Airport is the central Illinois home of the Giles Henderson Memorial Challenge aerobatic contest. During our coverage of this event, we saw some interesting general aviation aircraft and a Bell Jet Ranger outfitted for aerial spraying.

Cape Girardeau, MO Regional Airport hosted their Air Festival in May, and we saw some eneral aviation and United Express regional transports during our coverage of that event. We thank Cape Aviation for the access we needed to provide extended coverage of the Air Festival and the other aircraft featured below.

Creve Coeur Airport hosts a great variety of general aviation aircraft along with many internationally acclaimed antique and warbird aircraft as well. During our visit, we saw some aircraft that were also repositioned from St. Charles County Airport, taking refuge from the current flood conditions.
