The Fly Now! The Movie crew spent their second day on the road to Sun'n Fun 2015 making our way south for a time through Georgia. A visit to the Robins AFB Museum of Aviation was a fortunate diversion. Due to time constraints, we kept our visit to only one of the several outside air park exhibits and the Century of Flight Hangar. There were plenty of aircraft to see and interesting people to meet. In this second day chronicle of the Sun'n Fun 2015 sojourn, we present some views of the air park and museum displays along with a portion of the interview with docent and world War II veteran Arthur "Red" Adams that may be included in the Fly Now! The Movie due for release later this year.

A recent whirlwind tour of the
National Museum of the U.S. Air Force on a snowy Midwestern winter day produced
some interesting views of the aircraft in the Airpark outside of the main
museum. The Lockheed AC-130A Gunship II (originally dubbed Gunboat) was JC-130A 54-1626, the first one of a series of early airframes converted to gunships at Wright-Patterson AFB, and was tested in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. The aircraft, armed with 20mm cannon, performed reasonably well, and further modifications to the fire control system combined with heavier armament produced a very effective platform for use in the remainder of the Vietnam War and later conflicts. Here are some views of the aircraft during the winter visit.

A recent whirlwind tour of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force on a snowy Midwestern winter day produced some interesting views of the aircraft in the Airpark outside of the main museum. Aircraft in the Airpark include Lockheed C-60A Lodestar, AC-130A Spectre, C-130E Hercules and C-141C Starlifter; Boeing C-17A Globemaster III and EC-135E; Northrop YC-125B Raider; and Fairchild C-119J Flying Boxcar. Here are some views of the Airpark after a light snowfall. Future postings this week will focus on individual aircraft.
