Natural Fliers: Bald Eagles and American White Pelicans on the Mississippi River in Clarksville, MO

By Carmelo Turdo
During the winter months, The Aero Experience includes coverage of the natural fliers wintering in the Midwest along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Here we feature bald eagles and American white pelicans seen on Saturday during our visit to Lock and Dam No.24 in Clarksville, MO. Bald eagle activity was steady throughout the morning following the recent spell of below average temperatures. Though some bald eagles remain along the rivers year-round, most will migrate north again over the next two weeks. Here the Mississippi River was ice-covered north of the locks but flowing steadily to the south. We will have more coverage of natural fliers in different locations in the coming weeks.

Natural Flyers: Bald Eagles and American White Pelicans on the Foggy Mississippi River

By Carmelo Turdo
During the winter months, The Aero Experience includes coverage of the natural flyers wintering in the Midwest along the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Here we feature Bald Eagles and American White Pelicans seen on a recent foggy day visit to Lock and Dam No. 25 in Winfield, MO and Lock and Dam No. 24 in Clarksville, MO. Bald Eagle activity was lower than last year due to this unusually warm winter, but we had a great time being out with these natural flyers. Though some Bald Eagles remain along the rivers year-round, most will migrate north again over the next two weeks.
