EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023: Saturday Airshow, Part 1 - Jumping In, Energy Out

By Carmelo Turdo
The Aero Experience continues our coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023, sponsored by Piston Aviation, by featuring one of the most sensational aspects of the nation's largest aviation event of the year - the spectacular airshows. We previously featured a selection of airshow performers from the week in our Airshow Outtakes and New Year's celebration posts, and we continue here with our full coverage of the signature Saturday day and night airshows.

AirVenture airshows provide a wide variety of aerial entertainment, from skydivers to aerobatic champions to military jets and warbirds of all types. These performances must be felt and heard as well as seen to be properly enjoyed, so we will do our best to present the airshow as this total experience.

The Chuters opened the day show as a T-6 Texan from the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team circled overhead.

Jungle Aviation and Relay Service (JAARS) Pilatus PC-6T Turbo Porter demonstrated the STOL performance necessary for operations in unimproved airstrips.

The Red Bull Air Force provided their aerobatic helicopter, wingsuit flyer and Kirby Chambliss flying the Edge 540.

We will continue our coverage of the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 Saturday Airshow with several more editions in the coming week.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016: Airshow Performers - Skip Stewart

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo
http://www.airassociatesmo.com/tae/The top airshow performers entertained the crowds at America's largest aviation event, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016.  Among them was Skip Stewart flying his highly modified Pitts S-2S named Prometheus, after the deity in Greek mythology who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to humanity.  Skip is known around the world for his breath-taking takeoff sequence where he slides sideways down the runway just feet above the pavement.  His sweeping vertical maneuvers, and his ribbon cut, are sure to amaze any audience.  Here is a sample of Skip Stewart's Tuesday show and Wednesday autograph session.
