The Aero Experience continues our Piper Week Mini-Series with a look at the Piper aircraft parked in the Vintage Area at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 during our 10-day coverage sponsored by Elite Aviation. There were a variety of aircraft types to be found in the Vintage Area, from the earliest remaining restored aircraft from the 1920s through those from the 1950s and 1960s that are still regularly flown in the general aviation world. Aircraft types, such as the Piper Comanche, have their own community parking areas.
Below we will feature several Piper aircraft types that congregated together in the Vintage Area, including:
Piper Cub, Super Cruiser and Super Cub
Piper Pacer and Tri-Pacer
Piper Comanche and Twin Comanche
The Aero Experience begins this week in Midwest Aviation with a series of stories featuring Piper Aircraft products. Piper Aircraft began production of the legendary Cub in 1937, and since then the Piper name has been associated with classic designs, many named for Native American tribes. Today, Piper Aircraft still produces updated models of their low-wing, single and twin-engine designs along with the piston and turboprop M-Series. Perhaps the biggest compliment to the Piper lineage is the brand loyalty demonstrated by Cherokee, Comanche and Saratoga owners and the proliferation of Piper Cub-inspired aircraft that ensure the Piper legacy for generations to come.
We continue our year-round coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, sponsored by Elite Aviation, with a look at the sprawling Piper exhibit. Prominently featured at the exhibit were the M-Series models, formerly known as Malibu, Mirage, and Meridian. We see them arriving and on display below. Also on display was the Pilot 100, Piper's primary training aircraft based on the Archer. It provides an entry into the general aviation world that prepares the student for the complex aircraft training to come in the Piper Arrow and multi-engine training in the Piper Seminole.
