EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014: Homebuilt, Light Sport and Ultralight Aircraft Series Begins

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo
http://www.airassociatesmo.com/tae/The Aero Experience rejoins our year-long coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014 with a series featuring homebuilt, light sport and ultralight aircraft similar to those we saw at the recent Midwest LSA Expo.  Among the ten thousand aircraft that cycled through Wittman Regional Airport during our visit were an abundance of homebuilt aircraft, the core the EAA movement.  Many of them were the very popular Vans RV series sporting conventional and tricycle landing gear.  There were also light sport aircraft, including the homebuilt and factory-built variety.  Ultralights even had their own strip at the south end of the grounds.

This introduction includes a variety of aircraft displayed in the parking areas spanning the length of the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014 grounds.  We will feature various aircraft in these classes over the next few weeks in between our current event posts.  At least one of the aircraft sported a decal like the one at left, commemorating the infamous severe weather episode at Sun n' Fun 2011.
