Spirit of St. Louis Airshow and STEM Expo, Presented by Boeing, Set to Soar Over the Gateway City

By Carmelo Turdo
The Spirit of St. Louis Airshow and STEM Expo, Presented by Boeing, is now underway at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in the Chesterfield Valley near St. Louis.  The airshow, in its second biennial format, is reminiscent of the St. Louis County Fair & Air Shows hosted by the airport for decades through 2007.  Most of the static display aircraft available for visitors were made by the Boeing Company or it's St. Louis-based legacy company, McDonnell Douglas.  Airshow performers include U.S. Navy Blue Angels, Canadian Forces Snowbirds and CF-18 Hornet, the USAF F-22A Raptor, Skip Stewart, and several World War II-era warbirds.  The highlight of the event for many is the appearance of the McDonnell Douglas (Q)F-4E Phantom II on likely it's last appearance in the city where it was born.  The Aero Experience begins our team coverage with the preview from Friday's arrivals and practice sessions.
