EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016: Exhibitors - Federal Government Organizations

Fred Harl and Carmelo Turdo
http://www.airassociatesmo.com/tae/Exhibitors at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 included several organizations representing federal government law enforcement, military and emergency services.  Along with a previous feature on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft, we continue on this theme with some views of more aviation assets directly or indirectly used by federal government agencies.

The Civil Air Patrol, the civilian U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, was chartered by Congress in 1948 after serving in coastal patrol, search and rescue and liaison missions throughout World War II under the War Department.  Today, the Civil Air Patrol continues to serve the nation in providing cost-effective emergency services support to the U.S. Air Force along with the aerospace education and cadet program offered to it members.  The Civil Air Patrol's exhibit included a modern Cessna 182T Skylane.

Other federal government agencies brought their aircraft and other items for exhibit in the Federal Pavilion.  The U.S Forest Service brought their DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver and Shorts C-23A Sherpa, and a vintage Fairchild FC-2W2 in National Park Service livery was also included.  U.S. Customs and Border Patrol featured their patrol boats and Airbus H120 helicopter (featured previously).  Other federal agencies, including National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, were also represented.

The U.S. Air Force exhibit included the Vapor Stealth Supercar that features aircraft type controls and built in simulator.  It can run in a quiet "stealth mode," and offers night vision, cameras and other advanced technology.  The car was made in 2009 as a recruiting exhibit trucked around the country to aviation events along with the Mustang X-1.
