EAA has it's roots in the development and promotion of experimental (i.e. homebuilt) aircraft. Even though EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 featured many types of aircraft, the experimental aircraft industry has remained the central focus of the members' activities. Today we feature The Aero Experience coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 experimental aircraft designed by the fertile mind of Burt Rutan and in many instances flight tested by his brother, Dick Rutan. From the mid 1970s to today, the Rutan designs have been built in garages and hangars throughout the world. Examples of Rutan legacy aircraft included here are the Defiant, Quickie, VariEze and Long-EZ.
