Scout Aviation Day and Young Eagle Flights Held at Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum

The Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum held the annual Scout Aviation Day Saturday.  The museum, along with EAA Chapter 64, provided opportunities for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to experience Young Eagle flights and participate in activities to fulfill portions of their Aviation Merit Badge requirements.  The Scouts learned about the development of flying machines in the St. Louis area using real-life examples on display, and heard about opportunities in the aviation field from educators and military pilots.  Along with the actual Young Eagles flight, the Scouts could observe aircraft operations on the apron in front of the museum as they occurred in real time.  Trying on an actual F-4 Phantom II fighter cockpit for size was a rare and exciting experience.

The Aero Experience team was on hand to assist with the day's activities and show our audience the great contribution that the museum makes to the St. Louis and Metro East Illinois community.  Thanks to Mark Nankivil, President of the Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum, for organizing the event and to Fred Harl for contributing some of the photos featured here.
