Flying With Fred: Fredericktown, MO Airport Rehabilitation Project Progresses

By Fred Harl
The Taxiway and apron rehabilitation project continues toward completion at the A. Paul Vance Fredericktown Regional Airport in Madison County, South of Farmington, MO. The project is making progress as is clearly visible in the aerial photos taken during a recent flight over the airport. The project comprises taxiway rehabilitation, apron and connecting taxiway reconstruction and apron reconstruction in the area near the hangars.

The new terminal building was constructed and the airport was renamed in honor of A. Paul Vance in 2011. The community dates back to the early 1800s when it was first settled by the French as was much of eastern Missouri. The town's Missouri Pacific Railroad Station, dating from before 1920, was previously the home of an aviation museum dedicated to the life and career of A. Paul Vance.
