Mt. Vernon Outland Airport, Mt. Vernon, Illinois (KMVN) invites all area aviators to the Balloons Over Mt. Vernon Veterans Fly-in on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Nestled in between Friday and Saturday night balloon glows will be an aviation themed day that features EAA Young Eagle Flights, Warbird, Classic/Antique,and Experimental Aircraft Displays, and U.S. Military Aircraft. Veterans of all conflicts will be honored, but the event’s signature afternoon Veteran’s Salute will focus on Vietnam Veterans. The AC-47 Gunship “Spooky” and other Vietnam-era warbirds will provide a great background for the Salute. The day also features a pancake breakfast, car show, and community displays.
