Students Recognized at Greater St. Louis Business Aviation Association Quarterly Luncheon

By Carmelo Turdo
The Greater St. Louis Business Aviation Association (GSLBAA) honored seven Education Foundation Scholarship winners during the quarterly luncheon held September 30 at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport Strategic Air Services hangar. The GSLBAA Education Foundation awards scholarships to students enrolled in college-level programs in fields such as business aviation, aviation science (pilot), aviation maintenance technician, aviation administration, air traffic control and dispatcher. Applications require an essay describing the applicant's desire to pursue an aviation career, official academic transcripts and a letter of recommendation. Applications are due on April 30, and the scholarships are awarded annually in June.

The GSLBAA Education Foundation awardees are shown below with GSLBAA Acting President Jeremy R.C. Cox (top) and in group photos with Airport Director John Bales (bottom) near the Falcon jet.

This year's new luncheon format also incorporates a guest speaker presentation and exhibit space for local aviation businesses. The interactive program allows opportunities for participants to network and share updates on products or services that benefit the members and the aviation community at large. Here we include some views of the arrivals and exhibitors.

The feature presentation was given by Wayne Hundsdorfer, Senior Manager of Honeywell GoDirect Connectivity Sales, covering the state of the art of cabin connectivity used in today's commercial and corporate aircraft. Hardware, software and crew training topics were discussed, including the accelerated development of new systems in recent years. Here we have some views of the presentation and the recognition award given to Hundsdorfer from Jeremy Cox.

The Aero Experience thanks GSLBAA, Strategic Air Services, the scholarship winners, exhibitors and everyone who contributed to such a productive quarterly luncheon event. The next event, the Trivia Night fundraiser, is scheduled for November 5 - see flyer below.
