Fourth Intro to Flight Session Marks Half-Way Point for Students

The fourth session of the Intro to Flight program was held at the Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation on Saturday. The classes began with motivational talks given by Roger Sulzer, retired U.S. Army helicopter pilot who test flew the prototype of the legendary Huey and also flew the Caribou transport, and Max Mabry, who flew regional jets with United Express for over thirty years.  After taking and reviewing a mid-term quiz, the students flew patterns in a Cessna 150 and tried flying other aircraft as well on the V/R flight simulators. Special thanks to ground school instructor Dave Kleinschmidt and simulator instructor Sebastian Valenzuela, a CFI with Piston Aviation, for providing their expertise.

Morning session student, Ellie Lepich, went to the Piston Aviation hangar in the afternoon and took Discovery Flights in the Bristell LSA and Piper Cherokee aircraft. She is very enthusiastic about flight training and already has a great head start through the Intro to Flight Program.
