The IMC Club of St. Louis held their monthly meeting at Spirit of St. Louis Airport on Tuesday evening. Members visited Alpha Flight Simulation, located across from Elite Aviation, to try out the Redbird MCX full motion, FAA approved AATD (Advanced Aviation Training Device) available for use by flight schools and individuals seeking to gain training or proficiency time. The club is sponsored by EAA Chapter 32 and regularly meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Creve Coeur Airport.
Alpha Flight Simulation owner John Keich briefed the club on the features of the Redbird MCX, including the Cygnus GPS interface with Foreflight, Guided Individual Flight Training scenarios, IFR Currency Scenarios and PilotEdge live air traffic control services. IFR approaches to Spirit of St. Louis Airport were then flown by several club members.
Alpha Flight Simulation offers the MCX in the Cessna 172 with steam gauges and G1000 panels along with the Beech Baron G1000 configuration with room for a realistic, side-by-side dual-control seating arrangement. The MCX is ideal for inclement weather training at all levels, logging Instrument approaches and training ATP-level Crew Resource Management. Contact Alpha Flight Simulation for a visit and demonstration.
