Farmington, MO Regional Airport Digs Out from Winter Storm

By Fred Harl
The Midwest was enjoying an unusually pleasant winter until last week, when the temperatures went down into the teens and 6-8 inches of snow blanketed the region. Even the most efficient general aviation airports took a day or two to clean up and resume limited service levels. Our pictorial below shows the crew at Farmington, MO Regional Airport cleaning up this week following the snow storm, making sure the pad was clear for the medical services helicopter.

June General Aviation (and More!) Survey

By The Aero Experience Team
The Aero Experience has compiled another edition of our General Aviation (and More!) Survey, this time covering the month of June. In this series, we present a collection of the general aviation and other aircraft not specifically featured in our previous event coverage. As you may know from previous posts, we may stretch the meaning of general aviation to include business aircraft, warbirds and even military aircraft to show the variety of air traffic we track each month. We may also mix in some material from previous months as it is received for publishing. The purpose, however you score it, is to provide to you a collection of aircraft seen in the Midwest for your enjoyment and inspiration!

Our visit to Farmington, MO Regional Airport features an aerial tour of the local area, utility helicopters used for antenna installations and a collection of business and general aviation aircraft.

At Washington, MO Regional Airport, we show a variety of aircraft, from a Magni M24 gyrocopter to a 1956 Cessna 172, a modern Cessna 172 from Elite Aviation doing touch-and-goes and several others included here.

At Spirit of St. Louis Airport we viewed a number of corporate jets, single and twin piston-engine aircraft, modern Cessna 172 trainers from Elite Aviation and an Air Evac Lifeteam training helicopter.

Our visit to St. Louis Downtown Airport shows rotorcraft operations by local media, businesses and U.S. Army Blackhawks; corporate jets, turboprops and sports team charters; single and twin piston-engine aircraft; aircraft maintained by Big River Aviation; B-25 Mitchell, TBM Avenger and Aeronca L-3 warbirds operated by the Missouri Wing of the Commemorative Air Force temporarily based at the airport; and even a WV ANG C-130 passing through the region.
