EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019: Warbirds - Salute to Colonel Bud Anderson

The Aero Experience continues our coverage of EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, sponsored by Elite Aviation, with this look at the Salute to Colonel Bud Anderson during the Thursday afternoon airshow. In true AirVenture style, eighteen North American Mustangs ran up their engines in unison prior to taking off and flying an aerial salute to the World War II ace and legendary test pilot. Two aircraft carried the Old Crow name representing Anderson's combat mounts, with rare P-51B, P-51C and the only flying P-51H models also included in the lineup. Here we feature the participating Mustangs, along with a brief video of the runup.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019: Veterans Parade

Several hundred veterans participated in the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 veteran parade on Friday afternoon prior to the airshow. Veterans from conflicts ranging from World War II to the present, including all who served stateside and in Cold War stations, were walking or riding in golf carts and various military vehicles to the delight of the crowd. Strangers became friends the moment they met in the parade and on the crowd line, with a continuous round of applause ringing throughout the parade route. This year's Grand Marshall was none other than the legendary Colonel Bud Anderson.

The Aero Experience appreciates our veterans, and we present this look at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 veterans parade with gratitude and thankfulness to those whose served and their families.
