Looking Back at the Cape Girardeau Regional Air Festival: Rising to New Heights

By Fred Harl
The 2014 Cape Girardeau Regional Air Festival was a great Midwest Aviation event, featuring the opening of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds airshow season, precision parachute demonstrations by the U.S. Army Golden Knights and a variety of aerial performances by top-tier airshow performers.  Our fellow The Aero Experience Team member, Leo Cachat, arranged for flights in Matt Younkin's Beech C-18 and the Golden Knights' C-31A Troopship (click on the links for the previous posts by Leo Cachat following the event).  A number of warbirds were also on static display.  We will feature some of the scenes from the pre-show preparations and Leo's flights here on this look back post:

Aviation Community Thrives at St. Louis Area Airports

By Carmelo Turdo
The greater St. Louis area aviation community is showing signs of resurgence at local airports.  The general aviation, business aviation, flight training and air tourism segments are showing significant activity, along with support services such as fuel distribution, aircraft maintenance and food service.  Custodians of local aviation heritage and education are seeing an increase in volunteer membership and visitor patronage.  Local aviation events have taken the place of some traditional airshows, many of which were cancelled due to the sequestration of U.S. military demonstration teams.  Here is a brief look at recent visits to local airports that have found ways to rebound in very difficult economic times.
