TBM Reunion Features Classic Warbirds and Friday Night Airshow, Part Two: Grounds and General Aviation

The TBM Reunion was held last weekend at Illinois Valley Regional Airport in Peru, IL. The event, inaugurated with the TBM Gathering in 2016, was produced by the City of Peru and a team of sponsors and volunteers spearheaded by Brad Deckert, a TBM owner based at the airport. Aircraft began arriving during the previous week, and the rain held off until Saturday (when the day's public activities were canceled). The Aero Experience was on site Friday afternoon and evening, and we continue  our coverage here with this view of the grounds and a selection of general aviation and experimental aircraft we saw on the ground and in the air.

Powered Paragliders Descend on Farmington, MO for Public Demonstration

Local powered paraglider (PPG) pilots soared in the skies over Farmington, MO over the last few days during a public demonstration of PPG sport flying. From Thursday to Sunday, weather permitting, the flights were scheduled to be held in the early mornings and late evenings when the air is cooler and more stable. The paragliders shown here flew on Friday evening using the backpack mounted fan motors. Other models may mount the fan motors on tricycle or quad wheeled frames. Though licensing is not required for most models, a considerable amount of training is needed to operate PPG aircraft safely.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016: Ultralight Area

The Ultralight Area provided a separate place for the display and flying of not only technically classified ultralight aircraft, but also those just heavier light sport, experimental and factory-built models that need only a short runway for takeoff and landing.  Along with powered parachutes, we feature the Quicksilver GT500, Revo Rival S, Quicksilver MX2, and M-Squared Breese.
